Project Update
The Our Forgotten Children Trust has sent funds to the following projects.
Mozambique
Supply village families with Malaria Nets, Maputo
Nets reduce the chance of catching malaria by up to 70%. Malaria is the biggest killer of children in Mozambique. Distribution via the Imagine Mozambique Charity.
Kenya 1
Stock for Maasai Child Library/School, Narok
Maasai Education Discovery, MED, will use funds to expand its library and business centre in Narok, providing increased access to information and educational resources for the Maasai children of 16 schools in the surrounding area.
Equatorial Guinea
Equipment for new build junior school, Luba
The current nursery school (100 children) is a small cramped warehouse in a basement under a restaurant. The new build will provide a number of classrooms, toilet and kitchen facilities on a new plot of land. OFC monies are to go towards school equipment ie desks, blackboards, writing materials.
Zambia
Schooling / housing fees street children in Lusaka (see photo journo story - street children)
Monies have been transferred to The Chisubilo Charity. They have confirmed that many of these street children have now benefited. Schooling costs (fees, books, uniform, shoes, exam fees, project fees, travel, food) have been paid for their third term, Sept 2007. More monies have been sent for the purchase of stove, so that the children can help themselves self-sustain, ie bake and sell bread.
Malawi 1
Build self-sustaining HIV Orphan School, Mbungo, Lake Malawi
Monies held in Trust account, will be transferred in March 2008 to Sonya Waters of the Malawi Dream Charity. Build start date due April 2008. The donation will pay for the school hut build, kitchen, toilet, uniforms, school equipment, kitchen utensils, salaries, teacher training for 10 village volunteers, lunch (maize/tea) for 40 children. Malawi Dream have helped the locals are on their way to self sustaining by building gardens to grow and sell their own vegetables/eggs/goats - this will also support the new orphanage.
Kenya 2
Mama Fatuma Goodwill Children's Home, Nairobi
Funds for the ongoing operating expenses ie education materials, medical expenses, food supplies, salaries, maintenance, water/electricity charges.
Thailand
Burmese displaced children school, Phang Mga province
Funds for mobile school, via 'Grass Roots Charity' Human Rights Education and Development Committee (UNICEF supported). Funds to supply teachers and transport for children who live in remove areas and are unable to attend schools.
Philippines 1
Provide Malaria Nets & Medicine, Luzviminda, Puerto Prinses City, Palawan Island (Squatters Area)
Nets to be distributed by local charity worker. Medicine funds to go via the Community Health Officer
Philippines 2
Provide 2 schools with audio visual education equipment, Aeta Village, Porac, Pampanga, run by nuns
i) Katutbo Village Elem School, ii) St Maria Vinda Ochoa RVM Apostolate Center.

Malawi 3
Primary School build, Malawi
A UK charity worker/teacher is building a school which will grow a class block each year, starting with two kindergarten classes, 30 children per class, until 8 classes - total 540 children. Await project manage information.
Laos 1
Provide water purifier, Hmong people in Xon Ga
Sourcing product and project manager.
Laos 2
Build a bridge, Hmong people in Xon Ga
Current bridge damaged in floods, important village life support, needed to bring products to sell in market in nearest town. Sourcing product/build company and project manager.
Cambodia
Provide funds for children to attend village school, Masan district, run by monks
